SITES Public Comment Period Extended to November 26th

While we have heard from many of you already (thank you!), the Sustainable Sites Initiative™ has decided to extend the public comment period to gather more input. This is a critical stage for SITES as we transition from years of research and development into open enrollment next year, at which time any project can pursue SITES certification.

The proposed revisions to the Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009 are based on experience gained through the two-year pilot program involving 150 projects, 11 of which have been certified so far with more under review. SITES staff and more than three dozen technical advisors in hydrology, vegetation, soils, materials, and human health and well-being contributed thousands of hours to ensure the credits are rigorous and effective in creating sustainable landscapes.

This update is available for comment and download at www.sustainablesites.org/publiccomment.  The public comment period will now remain open until November 26, 2012.  Responses will inform the SITES 2013 Reference Guide, which will be released in mid-2013.

Thanks for providing your time and expertise!
